Electrician Services, Done by Master Electricians

Outlets that spark, a panel that trips, pot lights that never got finished. Every electrical job through Rhodex is priced up front by a real office and done by a master electrician, with the ESA notification filed where the code requires it.

Electrical work carries a 30-day warranty on workmanship, part of Rhodex's 365-day warranty.

Electrical work has a hard line in Ontario that plumbing and carpentry don't: almost everything that touches wiring is supposed to be declared to the Electrical Safety Authority. That filing (usually a notification before work starts, or within 48 hours after) isn't bureaucracy for its own sake. It's what makes the work insurable and saleable when you eventually list the house, because an inspector can pull the record.

Every electrical job dispatched through Rhodex is done by a master electrician whose licence was checked against the public registry by our office managers at onboarding. The ESA filing is handled as part of the job rather than left to you.

What the job usually involves

The everyday calls split into three groups. First, point repairs: a dead receptacle, a switch that stopped working, a GFCI that won't reset in the bathroom. Second, additions: a new outlet where there wasn't one, a circuit for a dryer or an EV charger, recessed lighting where the ceiling never had any. Third, the panel, the part of the house most owners never see until something goes wrong with it. A panel that's out of physical breaker spaces or still running on fuses changes what every future electrical job in the house is allowed to be.

Smart switches, dimmers and under-cabinet lighting round out the list. They're small jobs individually, but each one is still wiring, still needs the filing, and still deserves the same licence check as a panel swap.

What changes the price

As general market estimates (not Rhodex prices), a 2026 Canadian electrician rates guide puts a replacement receptacle around $150 to $300, a brand-new outlet (which means fishing wire through a finished wall) around $200 to $600, and a full panel change in the $1,500 to $6,000 range. What actually moves a quote:

Rhodex doesn't publish its own prices. Each quote is built for the specific job by an office manager, with labour, materials and HST shown before anyone is dispatched.

Quick answers

Does electrical work in Ontario need a permit?

Almost all of it does. In Ontario, electrical work needs to be filed with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), usually as a notification before the work starts or within 48 hours after. Your Rhodex electrician handles the filing as part of the job.

Can I do small electrical jobs myself?

Rhodex doesn't publish do-it-yourself steps for electrical work, and we'd advise against it in general: miswired devices and overloaded circuits don't always show a symptom until they cause damage. Even swapping a device legally requires the ESA filing.

Who does the electrical work?

Master electricians do all electrical work dispatched through Rhodex, with their licence checked against the public registry at onboarding.

What does common electrical work cost?

As general market estimates, adding a new outlet runs about $200 to $600 and a panel change is a bigger job in the $1,500 to $6,000 range. Your Rhodex quote is set per job by an office manager, never from a table.

What warranty applies to electrical work?

Electrical work carries a 30-day warranty on workmanship, part of Rhodex's 365-day warranty on the rest of a job.

How Rhodex handles electrical jobs

Send the job through the site, the AI Advisor, or a call to (647) 205-7554. An office manager prices it, you approve, and a master electrician arrives when booked and files the ESA notification as part of the work. If the finished job doesn't look right, the office hears about it directly and a real person deals with it.

Where we send electricians

Electricians cover Etobicoke and Mississauga in the west, all four Vaughan neighbourhoods (Woodbridge, Maple, Concord and Thornhill), and north through King City, Aurora, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Markham and Stouffville.
